What to Know Before Choosing a CDL School
ELDT Requirements
Federal law now requires Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) from a registered provider before obtaining a Class A or B CDL, upgrading, or adding endorsements.
Class A vs Class B
Class A covers combination vehicles (tractor-trailers). Class B covers single vehicles over 26,001 lbs. Choose based on the type of trucking career you want.
Public vs Private Enrollment
Some schools only train their own employees (private). Make sure to filter for 'public enrollment' schools if you're an independent driver seeking training.
Behind-the-Wheel Training
Look for schools offering both range and public road BTW training. Both components are required for full CDL certification under federal ELDT rules.
